Funded by the UEFA Foundation for Children, the EFDN STEM Education Programme delivers sessions of coding increasing the understanding in these new technologies at local, national and European level. Matt Mead, Sphero‘s Sports Partnerships Manager, spoke at the virtual EFDN Conference in November. He presented a talk entitled ‘Fostering a Passion to Learn STEM Skills through Football, Coding and Play!’ touching on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). In his talk he presented the EFDN STEM Network and touched on the following questions: What is STEM Education and why is it so important for students to develop these skills? How can Sphero inspire students to learn the critical STEM skills through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences via coding and play? How can football clubs engage their local community and offer an innovative community STEM programme that support the needs of 21st century skills development for students and prepares them for the jobs of tomorrow and the technology-economy?
